คนเราจะว้าวเมื่อได้เห็นวาฬ แต่เมื่อหางวาฬจมลงเราก็จะหลงลืมมันไป เรามักใช้ประโยชน์จากวาฬ เพื่อความบันเทิงแต่จรงิๆแล้วยังมีอีกหลายเรอื่งราวเกี่ยวกับวาฬที่สําคัญมากต่อโลกใบนี้เมื่อก่อนคนไทยยังรู้จักเรื่องราวของวาฬน้อยมาก กลุ่มวาฬไทย(THAIWHALES)จึงถูกก่อตั้งขึ้น เมื่อปี 2011โดยนายชาญกิจ ชํานิวิกัยพงศ์ ช่างภาพถ่ายภาพยนตร์ร่วมกับทีมงานกลุ่มเล็กๆ เพื่อสนับสนุนการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับวาฬและอนุรักษ์วาฬในประเทศไทย ดําเนินกิจการโดยใช้ทุนทรัพย์ส่วนตัวเป็นหลัก และได้รับความอนุเคราะห์จากผู้สนับสนุนในภารกิจเฉพาะอย่าง

กลุ่มวาฬไทย ระลึกเสมอว่า "วาฬ" เป็นสัตว์ท่องไปในทุกๆ น่านนํ้า ไม่ได้เป็นของชาติใดชาติหนึ่ง แต่สาเหตุที่ใช้ชื่อว่า "วาฬไทย" ก็เพื่อจะกระตุ้นและสร้างจิตสํานึกของคนไทยให้เกิดความหวงแหน ทรัพยากรอันมีค่านี้เพื่อขยายผลสู่ประโยชน์ด้านการศึกษาอนุรักษ์ที่ในที่สุดแล้วไม่ใช่เพียงการดูแลวาฬที่ใดที่หนึ่งแต่เป็นการดูแลทรัพยากรธรรมชาติโดยรวมที่มีผลกระทบต่อทั้งโลกนั่นเอง

กลุ่มวาฬไทย เริ่มภารกิจจากการสนับสนุนการศึกษาวาฬบรูด้าในอ่าวไทยอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนทราบว่าวาฬกลุ่มนี้ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงวาฬที่ผ่านมาแต่พวกเขาเลือกอ่าวไทยตอนบนเป็นที่อาศัยและสืบทอดลูกหลานวาฬบรูด้าให้กับโลก

ขยายภารกิจไปสู่การศึกษาดูแล วาฬ โลมา พะยูน และ เต่าทะเลหายาก อย่างเต่ามะเฟือง โดยสนับสนุนให้เกิดองค์ความรู้ที่ถูกต้อง ประสานการทํางานจิตอาสาภาคประชาชนเพื่อสนับสนุนเจ้าหน้าที่ภาครัฐในการปฏิบัติงานช่วยเหลือชีวิตวาฬและผองเพื่อน และสร้างสรรค์ผลิตสื่อให้ความรู้ที่ถูกต้องและสร้างความรักหวงแหน อันเป็นบรรทัดฐานแรกสําหรับทุกสิ่งเพื่อสร้างคําตอบและทางเลือกที่เหมาะสมในการอนุรักษ์วาฬและธรรมชาติอย่างแท้จริง



People often are amazed when they see a whale, but they tend to forget about it when the tail disappears beneath the water. We often use whales for entertainment purposes, but there are many other important aspects of whales that are significant for our world.

In the past, Thais had limited knowledge about whales, which led to the establishment of the ThaiWhales group in 2011 by Mr. Chankit Chamnivikaipong, a filmmaker, along with a small team, with the aim of supporting education about whales and their conservation in Thailand.

ThaiWhales is driven by private funding and receives support from dedicated mission supporters.

The group is committed to raising awareness that whales are not the property of any one nation, as they roam through the world's oceans. However, they use the name "ThaiWhales" to raise awareness and instill a sense of responsibility among the Thai people to protect this valuable resource. Ultimately, their goal is not only to care for specific whales but to care for the entire natural resource that has a global impact.

ThaiWhales began their mission by supporting the continuous study of Bryde's whales in the Gulf of Thailand. Through their efforts, they discovered that these whales were not just passing through but chose the Gulf of Thailand as their habitat and passed down their legacy to the world.

They expanded their mission to include the study and care of not only Bryde's whales but also dolphins, dugongs, and endangered sea turtles like the Leatherback sea turtle.

They aim to provide accurate knowledge and foster collaboration between the public and government agencies to assist in the rescue and protection of these marine species. Furthermore, they create educational materials that promote accurate knowledge and a sense of care and responsibility, which is the foundation for all efforts to conserve whales and the true natural world. All of these efforts form the foundation for finding appropriate answers and solutions to truly conserve whales and nature as a whole.

• สร้างสรรค์สื่อเพื่อนําเสนอข้อมูลวิชาการให้เข้าใจง่ายน่าสนใจ สร้างแรงบันดาลใจหรือผลกระทบให้กับผู้ชมได้โดยเลือกใช้ทั้งศิลปะและเทคโนโลยีผสมผสานกันให้เหมาะสม
• ออกสํารวจและสนับสนุนงานวิจัยวาฬบรูด้า โลมา พะยูน เต่ามะเฟือง ช่วยเหลือภารกิจของหน่วย งานที่เกี่ยวข้อง
• สนับสนุนงานช่วยชีวิตสัตว์ทะเลหายากเกยตื้น เช่น เคสลูกพะยูนมาเรียม , เคสวาฬนํารอ่งตายด้วยถุง พลาสติก 85 ใบ เป็นต้น
• กระตุ้นให้เกิดการตื่นตัวทั้งในการทํางานและการรับรู้ของสังคม ยกระดับความสําคัญของปัญหาที่เกิดกับวาฬ โลมา และสิ่งแวดล้อมทางทะเล เช่น THE LAST14 โลมาอิรวดี 14 ตัว สุดท้ายในทะเลสาบสงขลา



• Collect knowledge and develop the Thai Whale website into a research center for whales, related animals, and the environment.
• Create innovative media to present interesting information that inspires and impacts viewers, using a blend of art and technology that is suitable for the purpose.
• Conduct surveys on whales and assist relevant organizations in their missions related to whales.
• Support the marine mammals rescue operation .
