Akha Ama was established in 2010 as a social enterprise founded by Mr. Lee-Ayue Juepa, a young Akha man who shifted his approach from quantity-focused coffee production to quality-focused production. We believe that quality and value are what bind our customers, so we focus on product development to meet our customers' needs. We use local ingredients from the community to get the best quality materials for each season and hire and train Akha descendants, believing that even without Akha Ama in the future, they can still have a profession because they have 'knowledge on hand'. Over 50% of Akha Ama's employees are of Akha descent.
The business expands by extending the potential of Thai coffee bean farmers, spreading community economic risks, and increasing access to education for coffee-growing communities, and new generations who will play a role in driving the coffee profession. This is achieved through integrated farming to care for the environment, extending the philosophy of Akha Ama for sustainability from upstream to downstream. This means that the villagers are happy, the shopkeepers are happy, and the customers are happy. It is "sustainability that comes with sales."
